This study explored the process of Arirangfree Group Counseling, which focuses on care and confrontation, and was developed in 1987 by Korea's first group counseling organization, the Growth Counseling Center. The study qualitatively examined how care and confrontation are formed and developed during the group counseling process using various sources, including recordings of a four-night, five-day group therapy session, the documented experiences of ten participants, and pre- and post-counseling interviews. The case study method was applied. The results revealed that care and confrontation demonstrated equivalent formation and development. The counseling method helped participants express hurt feelings through interactions, and as a result, became a growth tool that aided in self-acceptance. The study confirmed that care and confrontation are effective therapeutic tools that facilitate self-exploration, self-understanding, self-disclosure, and self-acceptance.
